Rep. Collins: Time to focus on the future and let the FBI do its job

While President Trump faces an investigation over accusations that his campaign had involvement with the Russians in the 2016 election, Congressman Doug Collins says he feels confident that the probe will be well-handled under former FBI Director Robert Mueller.

Rep. Collins addressed the investigation during a Friday interview on Fox Business. Speaking with host Jenna Lee, he said that testimony from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein assured him that the matter is in competent hands.

"He gave the assurance that Director Mueller is going to have full control to actually take over this investigation and let it go where it may lead," Rep. Collins said.

The Georgia Republican went on to say that he felt debate surrounding the investigation is largely fueled by partisan politics.

"A lot of folks do not like this administration," Collins said. "They want to keep that controversy stirred up, because they want to take away from what we're doing here on Capitol Hill. Passing healthcare reform. Rolling back regulations from the Obama era."

"I think what we need to do now is focus on the future and let the FBI do its job," he added.
