2018 update: Michael Williams for ... ?
On Thursday, the AJC's Greg Bluestein pointed out that State Senator Michael Williams (R- Cumming) has a brand new website teasing a run for higher office in 2018.
The site simply identifies Williams as being in favor of "citizen government." It slams career politicians and bureaucrats, but one thing it doesn't reveal is the exact office Senator Williams plans to seek.
It had long been rumored that the Cumming Senator could run for Secretary of State in 2018, though it now seems more likely that he will enter the governor's race.
This year, Williams has launched a series of statewide robocalls, first touting President Trump's leadership, then- with the help of Dog the Bounty Hunter- urging legislative leaders to pass a pay raise for local law enforcement officers.
Should he run for governor, he will face Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle, and State Senator Hunter Hill.
