Just a reminder: Ossoff won't be 'Posting the Peach' today
While voters in Congressional District 6 will be walking out of the polls today wearing their Peach stickers, the race's leading candidate won't be among them. It's just a reminder that Democrat Jon Ossoff doesn't actually live in the area he'd be representing.
In March, one of Ossoff's campaign spokespeople told 11Alive that the candidate lives “about 10 minutes south” of the district, adding that he moved away to be near his long-time girlfriend. He says he plans to move back to the district once she completes medical school.
While state laws say that representatives must reside in the district they are running for, no such requirement exists for congressional candidates. The U.S. Constitution simply requires that the person be a resident of the state.
