Deal named among most popular governors in U.S.
A new poll has found that Nathan Deal is one of the top governors in the nation. Released on Tuesday, the report found that Governor Deal is the tenth most popular among Republicans and Democrats alike.
The results came from a series of Morning Consult polls, in which 85,000 across the nation were asked to rate their level of satisfaction with their Senators, governor, and other leaders. The survey included responses spanning from January to March of 2017.
Deal’s spokeswoman, Jen Ryan, said that she believes her boss’s success is the result of governing “based on principles rather than polls.”
Here’s what she told zpolitics:
“Consider this: Since taking office, Gov. Deal has focused on job creation, economic growth and improving education outcomes for students. By implementing pro-jobs policies, fostering a business friendly climate and emphasizing workforce development, Deal has helped create more than 590,000 jobs and made Georgia the No. 1 state in the nation for business for four consecutive years. Under his leadership, Georgia’s Rainy Day Fund has grown to more than $2 billion and our AAA bond rating remains in tact. During this time, he’s signed six balanced budgets while prioritizing education, investing in our infrastructure and reforming the criminal justice system. Finally, Georgia’s unemployment rate has fallen every month he’s been in office, while our state has jumped from 10th to 8th in population.”
